The Concord City Council on March 25 took an important step to protect residential and commercial tenants who may experience economic hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Council voted unanimously to adopt an urgency ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on evictions for failure to pay rent, utilities, late fees and penalties for residential and commercial tenants in Concord, who are experiencing a substantial decrease in household or business income caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ordinance also imposes a moratorium on rent increases for those properties not exempt under state law, AB-1482.
The urgency ordinance is effective from March 25, 2020 through May 31, 2020.
