Details about Eviction Moratorium

The Concord City Council on March 25 took an important step to protect residential and commercial tenants who may experience economic hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Council voted unanimously to adopt an urgency ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on evictions for failure to pay rent, utilities, late fees and penalties for residential and commercial tenants in Concord, who are experiencing a substantial decrease in household or business income caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ordinance also imposes a moratorium on rent increases for those properties not exempt under state law, AB-1482.

The urgency ordinance is effective from March 25, 2020 through May 31, 2020.

For more information and additional resources, please review our flyer, which explains the ordinance in English and Spanish, and visit our Housing web page.
