the status of Concord's Residential Pavement, Phase A, City Project Nos. 2516, 2517, 2561, 2562 & 2563. Construction is expected to begin in July 2023.

Later this week after the rain, the pavement striping and marking will be installed in the Kirkwood Drive area in Residential Zone 1B (Project No. 2517).

On Friday, February 16, 2024, the Contractor completed paving Citrus Avenue and all 13 courts in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood in Residential Zone 3B (Project No. 2561).  Due to the closure of the pavement plant and expected rain, the remaining streets (Santa Maria Dr., Santa Ana Ln., Santa Paula Dr. and San Gabriel Dr.) are expected to be paved March 8-15, 2024.

Dates are subject to change depending on the contractor’s progress and the weather.  Your patience is greatly appreciated.

FEBRUARY 15, 2024

This week the contractor is adjusting utility irons (monuments, water valves, and manholes) to grade in the Kirkwood Drive area in Residential Zone 1B (Project No. 2517).  The pavement striping and marking will be installed next week or so (February 21-29).IMG_3415

This week the Contractor will complete the pavement base repair work (dig-outs) in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood in Residential Zone 3B (Project No. 2561). The Contractor next will perform the key cut and overlay (top lift) paving work of the cul-de-sacs this week.

Due to the closure of the pavement plant and expected rain, the final paving of San Gabriel Drive and Santa Paula Drive is expected to take place March 8-15.

Please look out for the “No-Parking” signs for the day(s) of work, proper Traffic Control shall be implemented before the start of work.  Access to driveways will be impacted during key cut and overlay work.   Dates are subject to change depending on the contractor’s progress and weather.

FEBRUARY 12, 2024

Pavement work is complete in the Kirkwood Drive area in Residential Zone 1B (Project No. 2517).  This week the contractor is adjusted utility irons to grade and is preparing to install the pavement striping and marking.

This week the Contractor is starting to perform pavement base repair work (dig-outs) in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood in Residential Zones 3B (Project No. 2561) Zone 3B. Work will start in the cul-de-sacs then move onto the main road.  Once the pavement base repair is completed in this neighborhood, the Contractor will then start performing the key cut and overlay (top lift) paving work.   Below is the estimated schedule: 

  • Friday, 2/9: Dig-outs on Santa Paula and San Gabriel
  • Monday, 2/12: Dig-outs on Citrus and San Simeon
  • Tuesday, 2/13: Begin top lift paving at Santa Maria Ct.

The Contractor is anticipated to complete paving work in the Kirkwood Drive area in Residential Zones 1B (Project No. 2517) this week – the remaining location is at Yardley Ct, utility adjustment and striping installation will be performed in the following weeks. The Contractor will also be working at the intersection of Almar St & Cowell Rd, and near Almendra Ct & Cowell Rd later this week.  Phase A picture

After completing the paving in Zone 1B, the Contractor will then move to Ygnacio Woods neighborhood in Residential Zones 3B (Project No. 2561). They will first perform digouts on different streets then follow up with paving. Traffic will be impacted during paving and detour map(s) will be issued prior to the start of work. 

 Please look out for “No Parking” signs and the dates written on the signs. Please note that work shown above is contingent on the weather. 

JANUARY 11, 2024

On January 11th, the contractor for Residential Pavement, Phase A will start pavement base repair work on Kirkwood Drive in Residential Zones 1B (Project No. 2517).  To accommodate the construction the road will be closed at Kirkwood Drive from Kirker Pass Road to Kirkwood Oaks. See below map for the detour to/from Kirkwood Drive via Concord Boulevard and Cam Estrada.

Paving work stated last week and is expected to continue for the next week or so with localized detour routes.  Construction activated are expected to be complete in early February for Residential Zones 1B (Project No. 2517).

Concrete improvements continue in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood in Residential Zones 3B (Project No. 2561) are expected to be completed in two weeks. Weather permitting, paving the neighborhood could start late January.

The contractor continues to take advantage of the moderate weather and on January 2 wrapped up paving in Residential Zone 2B (Project No. 2517) located in the Bishop Estates Neighborhood.  Next week the contractor will be adjusting utility irons to grade in the neighborhood.

This week the contractor will start base repair work in Residential Zones 1B (Project No. 2517) centered around Kirkwood Drive.  Paving work is expected to continue for the next two to three weeks.

Concrete improvements continue in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood in Residential Zones 3B are expected to be completed mid-January.   Weather permitting, paving the neighborhood could start late January.

DECEMBER 21, 2023

The contractor is taking advantage of the moderate weather and is wrapping up paving in Residential Zone 2B (Project No. 2517) located in the Bishop Estates Neighborhood.  To mitigate for the colder weather, the contractor has shifted work hours later in the day.  On Friday, December 22 the contractor will pave Pierce Ct, Madison Ct, Cleveland Ct, Jackson Ct and Harding Ct.  Next week we will try to finish the remaining paving work at Bishop Estates, but it is weather dependent.

All concrete improvements in Residential Zones 1B (Project No. 2517) centered around Kirkwood Drive are complete.  The remaining concrete improvements in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood in Residential Zones 3B are expected to be completed in January 2024 and ready for paving.   Weather permitting, the Contractor can pave Kirkwood Drive Neighborhood first then Ygnacio Woods Neighborhood, however all paving may be suspended until spring.

December 6, 2023

This week paving resumed in Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517).  Contractor is working on base repairs starting at the end of Denkinger Road and Crestwood Circle (Zone 2E).  Later in the week they will work on base repairs in the Bishop Estates Neighborhood (2B).  Next week the Contractor plans on pacing the final top lift in both Residential Zone 2B and 2E. The schedule for the pavement work will be adjusted to mitigate for the weather.

Concrete work continues in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood this week in Residential Zone 3B (Project No. 2561).  Work is expected to be completed by the end of December.

NOVEMBER 14, 2023

The contractor started concrete work in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood this week in Residential Zone 3B (Project No. 2561) and has a subcontractor trimming trees in advance of the paving work.  Work will continue throughout December.

On the horizon, permanent striping in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562) is expected to be done on November 21. Starting the week of November 27 paving will resume in Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517) and will transition to Residential Zone 1B (Project No. 2516) in December.

Concrete work continues this week in Residential Zone 1B (Project No. 2516) centered around Kirkwood Drive and is expected to be complete by the end of next week.  Afterwards, the contractor will start concrete work in the Ygnacio Woods neighborhood in Residential Zone 3B (Project No. 2561).

november 1, 2023

Paving work in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562) on Cowell Road (between Galindo Street/Monument Boulevard and Alemnedra Court) started on October 30 and is expected to be completed on November 2.  To accommodate anticipated traffic during construction, a partial detour route will be implemented via Conventry Road, Mt. Diablo Street, and Oak/Laguna Streets. On Friday, November 3 the paving crew will move to Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517) near Denkinger Road at Concord Blvd to do pavement base repairs (digouts).

Concrete work resumed today in Residential Zone 1B (Project No. 2516) after a short break on October 31.  Construction was paused for the safety of pedestrians on Halloween.

OCTOBER 25, 2023

Paving work in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562) on Cowell Road (between Galindo Street/Monument Boulevard and Almendra Court) is expected to start on October 30 and is expected to last 3-4 days.  To accommodate anticipated traffic during construction, a partial detour route will be implemented via Conventry Road, Mt. Diablo Street, and Oak/Laguna Streets. Afterwards the paving crew will move to Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517).

Concrete work is wrapping up in Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517) in preparation for pavement work expected to start next week.

Starting this week, concrete work began in Residential Zone 1B (Project No. 2516) with paving expected late November. Streets in this neighborhood are centered around Kirkwood Drive and include Camino Estrada, Jameson Court, Meredith Court, Burnside Court, Preston Court, and others.  See below location map.

Concrete work continues this month in Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517) in preparation for pavement work which is expected to start on October 16.

October 03, 2023

Concrete work in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562) on Cowell Road (between Galindo Street/Monument Boulevard and Almendra Court) started this week at the Cowell Road /Mesa/San Miguel intersection.  Paving on Cowell Road is expected to start on October 16th and will last 3-4 days.  Afterward, the paving crew will move to Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517). IMG_2066

This week concrete work continues this month in Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517) in preparation for pavement work expected to start October 19th.  Work is focused along Adams Drive and Coolidge Street in the Bishop Estate Neighborhood.

This week concrete work continues this month in Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517) in preparation for pavement work in October.  A concrete pour on Crestwood Court is scheduled for Wednesday in Bishop Estate Neighborhood along Adams Drive.IMG_1956-sq

SEPTEMBER 18, 2023

This week pavement rehabilitation is complete in the residential streets of Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562) with Camara Circle and Alemedra Court completed on Monday, September 11.  The contractor is working on adjusting the irons to grade.  Paving on Cowell Road is deferred and will be done with paving at Residential Zone 2B and 2E (Project No. 2517).

September 7, 2023

This week pavement rehabilitation continues in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562) and will focus on Marilyn Way, Francine Court, and Systron Drive residential streets. Next week (Monday, September 11) paving will be on Camara Circle.

In Residential Zone 5L (Project No. 2563) utilities are being adjusted to grade on Grant Street in front of Mt. This week pavement activities began in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562).  This week paving will focus on residential streets Lynn Avenue, Todd Avenue, and Cross Way. Next week paving will be on Marilyn Way, Francine Court, Camara Circle, Systron Drive.

Concrete work continues this week and the rest of the month in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562).  Streets in this neighborhood include Marily Way, Almendra Court, Lynn Avenue, Todd Avenue, Camara Circle, Cowell Road (Galindo to Almendra), and others.  Pavement work in the residential streets is expected to start next week starting with Todd/Lynn and Marilyn Way/Court.

AUGUST 17, 2023

The remaining paving in Residential Zone 5L (Project No. 2563) was completed between August 14 and August 16 with a pavement overlay and mill-and-overlay on Gill Drive (from Grant Street to Fredrick Street), Mildred Street, and Karren Street.  The Contractor will install pavement markings and adjust utilities to grade within the month.

 

 

In preparation for pavement overlay in a few weeks, Concrete work continues this week and the rest of the month in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562).  Streets in this neighborhood include Marily Way, Almendra Court, Lynn Avenue, Todd Avenue, Camara Circle, Cowell Road (Galindo to Almendra), and others.

AUGUST 10, 2023

Construction continues in Residential Zone 5L (Project No. 2563) and began in Residential Zone 4Q (Project No. 2562).  See the below map for streets in Residential Zone 4Q with construction.  McGuire and Hester continue to work on proposed concrete improvements, which include curbs, gutters, valley gutter, and curb ramps. Base repairs and crack sealing to the streets were made as well.

Please note, paving is expected to start next week from August 14th to 16th Residential Zone 5L. See the below map. This will complete the paving in the neighborhood.

July 26, 2023

Pavement rehabilitation activities began on July 25, 2023, for the Residential Pavement, Phase A Project (Project Nos. 2516, 2517, 2561, 2562, & 2563) within Residential Zone 5L (Project No. 2563) and Mt. Diablo High School.  Impact on the school will be minimalized as the school is not in session with classes starting on August 10th.

A contractor started work on Gill Drive and will work on Grant Street at Mt. Diablo High School this week.

Construction activities began on July 10, 2023, for the Residential Pavement, Phase A Project (Project Nos. 2516, 2517, 2561, 2562, & 2563). The projects will rehabilitate pavement in six residential neighborhoods starting with Residential Zone 5L (Project No. 2563) located North of Mt. Diablo High School and west of Grant Street.  See below the location map for Residential Zone 5L.

The Project involves pavement maintenance and repairs, installing curb ramps at intersections to meet accessibility standards, curb and gutter repairs, water pollution control, traffic control, potholing, utility cover adjustments, and restriping.
