Citywide Arterial & Collector Maintenance Project #2

August 9, 2023

The Contractor, Pavement Coatings Co., has completed crack sealing and digout work in the project work areas on Pacheco St, Oak Grove Rd, Walters Way and Concord Blvd. The Contractor will be performing slurry seal treatments to maintain the service life of pavements. Temporary lane adjustments and closures between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. will be made throughout the scheduled slurry seal work.

Below is the schedule for slurry seal on the following project streets:

Monday 8/14:

- Pacheco St from Concord Ave to Port Chicago Hwy

Tuesday 8/15 – Wednesday 8/16:

- Oak Grove Rd from Monument Blvd to Whitman Rd

Thursday 8/17 – Friday 8/18:

- Walters Way from Detroit Ave to Monument Blvd

- Concord Blvd from 6^th St to Port Chicago Hwy

To minimize inconvenience, please observe construction signage and use alternate routes when possible to reduce traffic congestion. City Staff and the Contractor will be working diligently to minimize traffic impacts.

July 27, 2023

The Contractor on Citywide Arterial & Collector Maintenance Project #2 (City Project No. 2527), Pavement Coatings Co., has completed crack sealing and digout work in Residential Zone 5L (Almond Ave, Bacon St, Galindo St, Grant St, Mt. Diablo St) and on Concord Blvd in preparation for slurry seal treatments. Digouts repair localized areas where there are failures in the base layer of asphalt. This week, the Contractor will be performing slurry seal to maintain the service life of pavements. Temporary lane adjustments and closures between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. will be made throughout the scheduled slurry seal work.

Below is the schedule for slurry seal on the following project streets scheduled for this week:

Tuesday 7/25 thru Wednesday 7/26:

- Bacon St from Grant St to East St.

- Grant St from Bacon St to Bonifacio St.

- Almond Ave from Galindo St to East St.

- Mt Diablo St from Bonifacio St to End

- Galindo St from Bonifacio St to End

Thursday 7/27 thru Friday 7/28, Monday 7/31:

- Concord Blvd from 5th St to Bailey Rd.

The Contractor, Pavement Coatings Co., has completed weed control of the joints in the pavement in preparation for slurry seal treatments. Crack sealing was completed last week on Concord Blvd from Port Chicago Hwy to Bailey Road. The Contractor will be performing moving traffic control on the streets as they complete the crack sealing work. No-parking signs may be put up 72 hours in advance on the project streets if crack sealing will be going up to the lip of gutter. Below is the schedule for crack sealing on the following project streets scheduled for this week:

Monday 7/10:

Pacheco Street from Concord Ave to Port Chicago Hwy

Galindo St from Bonifacio St to End

Mt. Diablo St from Bonifacio St to End

Grant St from Bonifacio St to Bacon St

Bacon St from Grant St to East St

Almond Ave from Galindo St to East St

Walters Way from Detroit Ave to Monument Blvd

Tuesday 7/11:

Oak Grove Rd from Monument Blvd to Whitman Rd

Wednesday 7/12:

Port Chicago Hwy from E Olivera Rd to Panoramic Dr

Notice to Proceed began last Monday, June 19. The Contractor on the project is Pavement Coatings Co. The first order of work was weed control of the joints in the pavement. The Contractor will be performing moving traffic control on the streets as they address the weeds. No-parking signs may be put up 72 hours in advance on the project streets if weed control will be going up to the lip of gutter. The Contractor will be performing crack sealing and isolated patch paving within the coming weeks.

Please observe construction signage, and use alternate routes when possible to reduce traffic congestion. City Staff and the Contractor will be working diligently to minimize traffic impacts.

June 5, 2023

The Citywide Arterial & Collector Maintenance Project #2 – City Project No. 2527, is expected to begin construction mid- to late-June 2023. The project will involve slurry seal treatments on Concord Blvd, Port Chicago Hwy, Oak Grove Rd, Pacheco St, Walters Wy, and Zone 5L (Almond Ave, Bacon St, Galindo St, Grant St, & Mt. Diablo St). Work will also include but is not limited to removal and replacement of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, curb ramps, valley gutters, adjustment of utility covers, striping and pavement markings, and roadside signs.
