The City of Concord offers free, standardized ADU construction plans that are pre-approved to facilitate a faster, lower-cost permit process.

Below are the pre-approved ADU plan types, which come in a variety of sizes and architectural finishes.

Expedited permit issuance! If the site-specific plan and required documents are accurate and complete, permits may be issued within five working days. 

HOW TO GET A PRE-APPROVED ADU

Explore the six different pre-approved ADU plan types below with each floor plan having the ability to accommodate different orientations. The designs have multiple architectural styles commonly found in the City (e.g. Bungalow/Craftsman, Spanish inspired, Post-war suburban rancher, and modern) and the floor plans range in size from approximately 200 to 900 square feet.

Modifications

The pre-approved ADU design cannot be revised and must be permitted as designed. The ADU's may be oriented in any direction and floor plans may be mirrored (flipped). If you would like to make changes to the design, layout, floor plan, etc., you must submit for a separate permit detailing those changes.  This application can be made simultaneously while applying for the pre-approved ADU permit but is not an expedited review.  Not all proposed changes will be approved, so it is recommended you discuss the proposed changes with Permit Center staff prior to applying for either permit.
