K-12 Education
Although the Mt. Diablo Unified School District (not the City of Concord) operates the local K-12 school system, the City often partners with the school district.
Pre-school Education
A fully certified pre-school program is offered by the City of Concord Community & Recreation Services Department.
Literacy
Concord has joined the state-wide "Cities That Read" campaign to raise awareness about the importance of adult literacy as demonstrated by the following statistics.
Concord Public Library
The Concord Public Library is part of the Contra Costa Library system. The Friends of the Concord Library is an organization dedicated to improving library services in Concord. Through membership donations and Book Sale earnings, the League provides the library with books, tapes, magazines, and compact discs. We also provide children's and cultural programs for the community.
