Grammy winner at Hawaiian Fusion fundraiser


The Concord Senior Center presents six-time Grammy award winner Daniel Ho at the annual Hawaiian Fusion fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 9, 4:30-8:30 p.m. at the Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle.

Daniel Ho performs original songs in English and Hawaiian that feature his versatility on 'ukulele, slack key guitar, and piano. Notable credits include singing Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" in Hawaiian for the feature film "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," and his widely covered `ukulele instrumental anthem, "Pineapple Mango."

The show opener is Te Mau Tamari'i A Tiare / Nā Kamali'i A Kiele, an award-winning Polynesian dance troupe specializing in Tahitian Ori and Hawaiian Hula based in Pleasant Hill. Under the direction of Marlo Caramat, this halau will perform a variety of dances to get the audience ready for the main performance.

The evening includes a colorful Hawaiian Boutique, raffle prizes and a dinner buffet featuring authentic Hawaiian dishes such as roast pig, teriyaki chicken and pork laulau.
