Monumental Holiday Toy Drive under way

The eleventh annual Monumental Holiday Toy Drive, sponsored by the city of Concord, is accepting new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations through December 14. Organizers are especially in need of games, dolls, puzzles, action figures, soccer balls and footballs.

The program was established in 1997 to provide low-income families living in the Monument corridor area with holiday toys. The toy drive is no longer just helping families from the Monument corridor, but has expanded to include children from low income families in grades K-5 at six elementary schools in Concord. Last year, over 2,400 children received new toys.

Toy collection bins can be found at the following locations: Concord Police Headquarters, 1350 Galindo St., Southern District Field Office, 1500 Monument Blvd. F17, Northern District Field Office, 2166 Solano Way, Valley District Field Office, 4467 Clayton Rd., and Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Dr.

The public is invited to attend community-wrapping sessions at the Harvest House warehouse, 2395 Caven Way, Suite K on Fridays, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, Dec. 1, Dec. 8 and Dec. 15 from 2 to 5 p.m.
