UPDATED March 12, 2020:

In light of public health concerns related to coronavirus (COVID-19) and in compliance with State and County recommendations for social distancing, the City of Concord is postponing its March 12 Special City Council meeting. City staff are evaluating options that allow for essential City meetings to continue in a way that is consistent with public health guidelines.

The March 12 meeting agenda item entitled “the City’s response to Lennar’s letter of January 17, 2020 related to the Reuse Project at the former Concord Naval Weapons Station” has been postponed. The tentative new date is Tuesday, March 24.

(March 11, 2020) In light of Contra Costa Health Services’ recommendation for meetings with more than 50 people, City staff is making logistical adjustments for the March 12 Special Meeting of the Concord City Council.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 12 at 6 p.m. in the Wisteria Room at the Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle.

Members of the public are strongly encouraged to provide their public comment via email before 5 p.m. on March 12. Comments submitted before 5 p.m. will be entered into the record and provided to Council prior to the meeting. Please email comments to cityclerk@cityofconcord.org.

The Wisteria Room of the Senior Center will be set up with a limited number of chairs spaced 3-feet apart for members of the public, of which five seats will be reserved for people with ADA requirements and five seats for members of the news media.

The doors to the room will open at 5:30 p.m. and seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. We will also have an overflow room available at the Senior Center, with a capacity of approximately 25-30. The meeting will be televised in this room.

People who cannot be accommodated in the Wisteria room or the overflow room, will be asked to monitor the meeting via live stream from their mobile device, either on the patio of the Senior Center or from their vehicle. The meeting will be televised through the City’s website and available for viewing at: www.cityofconcord.org/TV. It will also be broadcast live on Comcast Channel 28, Wave Channel 29 and AT&T U-verse 99.

Everyone who would like a chance to make public comment at the meeting will be able to do so. Participants will receive a numbered speaker’s card upon their arrival. City staff will assist in coordinating the public comment period so that everyone (even those outside of the Senior Center building) will have the opportunity to comment. Given the expected number of public comments, each commenter will be limited to two minutes.

The City is urging anyone who has flu-like symptoms and anyone who is at “high-risk” for contracting COVID-19 to refrain from attending the meeting, in accordance with County Public Health recommendations
